'It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.'
-  The Nester  -

My favorite home blogger, The Nester, is hostessing a cozy summer home gathering on Instagram.  She writes, 'You're invited!  We're doing it again, a seasonal virtual open house!  Show up and share your home with a community of imperfectionists, summer-embracers and pretty-layer-lovers.  To join in, simply post photos on Instagram during the week of summer solstice (or join in anytime this summer) and tag them with #MyCozySummerHome .'

Read more about The Nester's gathering here and join her on Instagram there.

I don't know the first thing about Instagram, but I'm crashing the party for the first 6 days of July right here.  I'll be sharing a snapshot {or two} and a few words for each of the daily prompts.  And I hope you'll join me in chatting about what you're grateful for in your own uniquely personal home-sweet-home.

Because it's downright true - 'it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.'

Be sure to tag your posts with #MyCozySummerHome .

I've always been partial to vintage ticking, the worn and faded material you used to find covering those lumpy old mattresses and pillows.  Ticking makes me smile.  Yes.  And that's why I use these place mats every time we sit down for a meal.

Years ago, I bought them at TJ Maxx for a song.  They're the only place mats I own and have survived the washing machine at least a zillion times.  And if it's ok to love something that covers your eating surface, then yes, I do.

The much-used green tablecloth was my mom's before she passed it my way.  The gorgeous glass plate was one of those completely unexpected gifts you get once in a blue moon, the whimsical friendship mug came from a dear faraway friend.

I hope she comes to visit soon.
