#MyCozyFallHome
summer very slowly morphs
into autumn by the sea
dried flowers & berries & leaves
join forces with fresh snipped greenery
& little white pumpkins
a huge vintage bottle
corralling the elusive seaglass
knows that she's the star of the show
of course

Oh, how I wish it felt like fall around here, Linda! Love the photo and your reflection, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Oh don't worry. Those brisk breezes will arrive soon enough. And we'll wish we had our flip flops and tee-shirts on yet once again ...
Delete* sigh *
What a glorious collection of sea glass!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you yesterday when my copy of Leighton Ford's new book on listening arrived. We so enjoyed Adam McHugh's the Listening Life, that I'm wondering if this will be as good.
Oh that's so weird, I was just thinking about The Listening Life this morning. I still think it's just about my favorite all time read. I can't wait to read your Leighton Ford review. I'll be checking that book out for sure.
DeleteOh, Emily Freeman just spoke / wrote on listening and asking questions ... I love this --> 'May we swiftly and fiercely refuse to try to fix, one up, rescue, entertain, poke fun, scold, or compete.'

Seasons come whether we're ready or not, don't they. I hope your heart is ready to welcome a new season even with as its tinged with sorrow. The sea glass will always be my favorite as it's not something we find on our beaches. Very cozy, indeed.
ReplyDeleteAnd is your heart welcoming this fresh season in that new place, friend? What a huge number of changes you have been through since last September.
DeleteYour blog is reflecting your creative, inquisitive spirit. I'm really enjoying it ...
;-}
On the mantel a framed picture tells
ReplyDeleteof yesterday's quiet, peaceful scenes,
while beside lie 12-gauge shotgun shells
and AR15 magazines.
It is quite a rural mixture
and life in older days was sweet
but weaponry is now a fixture
and there's a meth lab down the street.
Live and let live is my motto;
if they don't bug me, that's way cool.
But if they trespass then they ought to
know that I won't die a fool.
These are days of harsher words,
and plowshares beat back into swords.
Well, uh ... weaponry's not a fixture at our place.
DeleteAlthough the mailman once mentioned that he delivers quite a bit of ammunition.
Go figure.
Love your mantel - and your day one collection! I'm planning next week to do my fall decorating so I'll be late to the party.
ReplyDeleteI have never found sea glass on the Florida beaches, so I love your jar-full.
You're right, Jerralea. There's very little seaglass to be found anymore. Plastic has taken over and isn't that a shame.
DeleteSo, yes, I do value what has come across my path over the decades. Only wish I had started hunting when I was a girl.
;-}
Oh how I love this. You have such an eye for putting together just the right things. I just pulled out my Fall things today. I will be working on scattering them throughout the house.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy decorating, Mary! It's such fun to gather our accumulated treasures together again, isn't it. Although I find I'm using fewer things as the seasons move on. Only the stuff I absolutely love.
DeleteI can't be bothered with cleaning it and storing it and hunting for it again.
This is the season of less is more.
;-}
I love how cozy you make your home look with the different seasons, Linda. The bottle with your sea glass is my favorite. :) Love and blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love cozy even though I'm leaning way towards minimalism the older I get.
DeleteWe can do both!
;-}
Was that poem yours?
ReplyDeleteLove that mantel. I best decorate that Tim hutch I have so it feels the fall breeze and shivers away the dust.
Up top? Yep, just a few random words strung together ... literally.
DeleteReally.
I'd love to see how you decorate that hutch! Please be sure to send us some snaps, ok?!
There is something so unexplainable about the early fall! My absolute favorite season of the year!! So thankful it is coming in a few days!!!
