SOMETHING LOVED

My husband hit it right out of the park with this anniversary gift of love ... he designed and built our very own Log Cabin Road Library.  Our neighbors have been dropping by and seem just as happy about its debut as we are!  If you're on the Cape, please come visit.

  1. Your husband knows you well. The little library is perfect for you and your neighbors. I’m going to say right now that Beth Moore’s memoir is my favorite book of the year. I’ve been telling everybody I know to read it. I actually listened to it on audible and could not get enough. Outstanding!

    1. Agreed, Mary. This is going to be THE book of the year for countless women who needed to read her story. A truly incredible offering on so many levels. I'm guessing that listening to it was a powerful experience. She's an incredibly articulate, expressive, gifted servant of God. The storms she's weathered ...

  2. Love your new Little Library! They are popping up in many neighborhoods and people really like them! The ice cream picture shows that the ice cream shops on the Cape started opening the week of school vacation! Summer is almost here!

    1. And how could we pass up Ben & Jerry's free cone day?! Let the summer begin ... and the traffic be held at minimum.

  4. HOW FUN!!!! I love the Little Free Libraries that we have around our small town. It's always exciting to drop something off...and pick something up, of course. Happy Anniversary!

And I have yet to read Beth’s memoir, but the podcast interviews I have heard are so intriguing…

  8. I love the little log cabin library! What a sweet, thoughtful gift. I have not discovered any "little libraries" around here and thought about putting one up myself. But we're on a cul-de-sac in a not very busy neighborhood--which I love. But that means only a handle of people would see and use it.

    1. Yep, we're on the same kind of road. And our road sign is missing at the end of the street so we're hard to locate. But we're replacing the sign ourselves since the town doesn't seem too interested in doing so ... and when you register on the Little Library site, people can find you easily on a map and you get to write your own description with photos. I was sold!

  9. I love the little library, Linda! The quote about perfectionism and anxiety is spot on. And I enjoyed Beth's memoir too ... it sounded exactly like her and shed so much light on her life and ministry.

    1. I've had to watch out for those perfectionistic tendencies, Lois. I think there's a big difference in striving for excellence vs. going crazy trying to be perfect. WWJD is a good question that takes us there.

  13. Something loved and treasured,
    something only God can give,
    a joy beyond all measure,
the life I get to live.
    Yes, I count each tumour
(and each one has a name),
but past that lies good humour,
and at end it's all the same,
for even though I'm dying slow,
the days are warm and bright,
and this truth I've come to know,
    I'm moving toward the light,
and when at last I do depart,
with me goes all love in my heart.

  16. Happy Anniversary. I love what you said.... Anxiety and perfectionism are not good for your health. AMEN and AMEN! Our Pastor preached on what both of these traits will do to one this morning. I am loving your little library. That is such a neat idea! I hope your week is wonderful to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  20. Been away all weekend in Ohio. The little free library made its way into our community several year ago. There is one on the corner of the church parking lot. What a great way to give good reading material to friends. Hope you had a good weekend. I sure did.

  23. What a lovely "library" your husband built! I love getting home magazines from those boxes, too. I just finished Beth Moore's book, and our book club will be discussing it in August. And yes, lets not feel bad about treating ourselves (especially with ice-cream--I make my own from non-lactose ingredients, so you'll have to drop by for some if ever in the neighbourhood). :)
