Hey people! Let's ...
toss our lame excuses to the wind
haul ourselves away from those overused screens
shut those babies down &
walk away from the desk without a single backward glance
pull on the well-worn sweats, strap on the sneaks
& don a favorite hoodie if the weather's a bit brisk
grab some water &
head out the door for a walk ...
a trot ... a jaunt ... an adventure
a trot ... a jaunt ... an adventure
How 'bout we ...
say 'good morning' to every dog walker, biker, & fellow adventurer we meet
explore a new road, an out-of-the-way hiking trail, a hidden pathway
notice tiny treasures, random surprises, passing clouds &
startling beauty around every bend
startling beauty around every bend
breathe deep &
smile with gratitude each step of the way
~
AND COMING TOMORROW!!!
Hi Linda, I am stepping away from the screen more often these days. I don't want to miss out on tiny grace-filled moments of life.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings to you, friend.
God Bless
I'm with you, friend. I'm more purposefully closing the laptop and going about my business, living life.
DeleteIn some ways it's easier to stay online. But life is more than the keyboard, isn't it ...
;-}
Linda,
ReplyDeleteLove all these little ideas you're inspiring us into (with the gentle voice of an Army commander! :)) I'm laughing at "don the hoodie and strap on some sneaks!" But it is amazing how much better I feel when I'm stuck writing and walk outside and glimpse the rabbit and the turtle and the deer that all live in the woods beside my walking path! I see God in them! And I'm inspired, refreshed and invigorated. So yes I will join you stepping away from the screens, friend! xo P.S. What new nature sights are you spotting in your new home? Share them with us!
Yeah, I got my coaching hat on for this post,Valerie!

You're so right ... I'm still amazed at how good I feel when I walk. Why I look for excuses is beyond me.
Here and there we'll see a fox or turkey running through the woods or down the road. Yep, rabbits, birds ...
And on a very rare occasion in the middle of the night we've had a 1/2 coyote 1/2 wolf kind of creature screeching behind the house. Just too eerie!
;-O
Hidden pathways, tiny treasures, startling beauty . . . I'm all in!
ReplyDeleteYou show us how it's done, you creative girl! You and that fabulous lens of yours ...

I love the infographic/cartoon, Linda! Isn't that so easy to do! We are all masters of our own self-delusion at times. But yes! Getting out there and taking those walks during this most wonderful time of year is just the ticket! I love the little prompts you give us as well--making our walk a joy and not just a chore! Hugs to you and hope you are enjoying the 31 day challenge, my friend!
ReplyDeleteMasters of our own self-delusion! I LOVE that! I don't particularly enjoy when I wear that hat, but you've coined it so well. As ever!
DeleteI'm loving the 31 Day thing this year, Beth. I planned the bones of the series ahead of time and have tried to keep my writing focused in the morning and not be sitting in front of the laptop all day. It's worked well ... and the coolest thing is I'm learning so much for everyone around here.
I love your writing, Linda. What a gift! And the right handed justification? It rocked the post. Your words in this one made me smile because I had one of those "good morning" moments just this morning. Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou're just plain sweet, Kristi! You're not the only one smiling. You've done the same for me, friend.
DeleteThanks so much ...
Ha! Yes, I think we could all do well to get up and move more. I've been trying to get up at 5 am to workout and shower before the day gets started...I need a nap by 10 am:) But the payoff is my clothes fit better, so it's worth it!
ReplyDelete5 am????
DeleteBe still my heart. How do you DO that, girl?
I would like my clothes to fit better, but ......
;-}
ALWAYS feel better when I exercise. WHY do I let life get in the way of that?
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Friend!
I'm with you, Lu. I'm still trying to figure out why I let everything else come first when I KNOW it's one of the best things I can do for my health.
DeleteI'm lazy. I'll admit it.
;-{
The cognitive lapses wrought by illness can be fun. Instead of "...tiny treasures, random surprises..." I read "tiny treasures, racoon surprises".
ReplyDeleteAnd what surprise might be brought by a racoon..?
http://blessed-are-the-pure-of-heart.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-scars-unseen-blogbattle.html
Racoon surprises!
DeleteYou're TOO much!!!!
har har
Yes, yes and yes! I love taking walks and this time of year is perfect for that. Sure wish I was walking side by side with you! :)
ReplyDeleteGosh, that would be so fun!
DeleteThink we can shrink those miles from the mid-west --> to the east coast? Maybe if we keep on walking we could meet in the middle, huh?
;-}
I love this! I have such a mental block when it comes to actually exercise... I just can't seem to will myself to get up + do it. I also love your extra 'spin' on it... To turn it into something far more.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that you're getting an awful lot of exercise with two little ones, Jandi ... I'm gonna send you over to read Thursday's 'splash' post!! Time for some spa time?

Moving is a major issue for me. We put in a pool so that I could swim, but I am not getting home early enough on most days to jump in.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a midnight swim by moonlight?

Oh how I love semi-retirement. No more 40 hours for me. But I went for a 14 mile bike ride with my son today and I am popped. He wants to go tomorrow again so hope I have enough energy cause the weather is superb. Getting out in this autumn stuff as much as I can. Pretty soon, bye bye to just wearing a hoodie.
ReplyDelete14 miles??!!!
DeleteBoy you are incredible, Carol! I so admire your stamina ... and the joy and satisfaction that come from your workouts. You show me how to do it well, friend!
