Good weekend to you, friends!

We've set foot in seven states this week.  We've partied hard for three days with dozens of family members.  Experienced the peace of farm country and spotted apple orchards groaning with fruit.  Indulged in all kinds of decadent food.  Cheered our lungs out at a granddaughter's basketball volleyball game.  And slept in three different beds along the way.

It's just plain surreal to find ourselves back home again.  And stranger still is that we've bought our first pumpkins even as the temps tickle 100 degrees.

Sometimes life is just plain weird, a bit topsy-turvy.  It's why I realize again how grateful I am that God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit never changes like shifting shadows.  Or seasons.  Or temps.  He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Embracing this truth gives us peace.

Tim and I have been musing on the lessons gleaned in re-doing our kitchen.  And you're talking about rotted floor boards, an upcoming she-shed, a hoped-for pergola, the relief of one stop shopping, and a garage turned into a dream kitchen.  Grab your iced tea and head on over to join the conversation.

And remember, friends, when all is said and done, no matter how weird life seems in this transitional season, please know without a doubt that Jesus is absolutely for you.

  1. Though I like the pictures, you are a little early with the pumpkins. Labor Day was only four days ago. It's hot and humid, beach weather. Fall will have to wait.

    1. Ah ... you gotta grab those blue ones when you find them! Those beauties are rare as hen's teeth.

  2. The article about menus was interesting. I don't have negative feelings about working through a list--I find it satisfying. But there's something about the idea of choosing from a number of options rather than feeling compelled to finish a set list.

    1. Yeah, I thought it was an interesting invitation to all us list-lovers and maybe a new slant for those who head for the hills every time a list is mentioned.

  4. I just love the thought of pumpkins, Linda. Heat or no heat, it gives me hope for fall being right around the corner.
We've done a lot of traveling, too, over the last several weeks, and I must admit, it feels so good to be home, in our own bed, and following a comfortable routine. Am I getting too old? LOL! Sometimes, that's just how it feels!
Enjoy every moment of your weekend!

    1. I love getting away and I love coming home again. I hear ya, Martha, about longing to be back in our own beds, too. I'm catching my breath for a few days and then am off again for a retreat with my daughters.

Gotta love this season of freedom after being held hostage by covid a few years back.

  7. The pumpkins have arrived earlier this year than last year. We've already started harvesting our pumpkin patch. We have blue ghosts, peachy pinks, marks stripes, sugar, good 'ol regular pumpkins for carving, and I think a few others ...seems even on the same vine, they are a different variety. It's fun to watch them grow and it's become a habit to go check the pumpkins in the morning! Keep enjoying all things fall, Linda, even though it's a bit topsy turvy as you say! (Reminds me of Meryl Streep singing about her Topsy Turvey Wednesdays in the latest edition of Mary Poppins... )

  8. Seven states in a week? That's incredible. It must have been on the east coast as those states are much closer together. Beautiful fall photos.

    1. Yep, you're right, Amy. From Massachusetts down to Maryland and back again taking a different route. We always drive but I think I'd rather fly. I'm astounded by the crazed road rage on the highways. We're used to puttering along at 50 mph, tops!

Meanwhile, I'm glad to see you again. I hope your summer was wonderful.

  11. So much fun here. We went from summer to fall in a matter of a couple of days. Hints of summer will return next week, but this week is overcast and cool with drizzle and rain in each day's forecast. I'm ready to burn one of my pumpkin spice candles. We don't usually buy pumpkins to decorate with, but I love yours! And blue pumpkins! WOW! Those sure are unique.

  12. Sounds like you have been having fun friend. Oh, I do love pumpkins and trying so hard to overcome the temps enough to want to decorate some! I am thinking maybe I will simply do a tablescape this year and my kitchen. Hoping your week is going well and thanks for stopping by to visit me. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  14. Wow! Seven states in one week! Linda, it sounds like you had a wonderful time with family! I pulled my fall decorations down from the attic, but it has been too warm for me to decorate the house with autumn things, but all it takes is one cold front and fall will be in the air. :)

  15. I used to think these days were weird
as I beheld all that had changed,
but now friends say it's as they feared,
and it is me who is deranged,
who cartwheels down the gravel drive,
a nice hand-skinning thing to do,
    and when dinner guests arrive,
I greet them with a cheerful 'MOO!'
The goat is wearing tie and tails,
    and'll grow into their dignity,
but if, perchance, that effort fails
I'll play polkas in the piggery
to inspire all the swine to dance
and give culture in this place a chance.
