Porch #79 * Remembering Heather

a soft place to land
a calm weekend haven
a gentle pause from life's busyness
so we may experience
the tender lovingkindness of Jesus
as we do life together
in community

let me photograph you
in this light
in case it is the last time
that we might be
exactly like we were

'a friend loves at all times and
a sister is born for adversity'

Proverbs 17:17

  1. Oh, friend, I’m so sorry.
Strangely, I have a close friend here who has also lost a longtime friend, and I will fold you into my prayers for her broken heart. May you experience supernatural peace and comfort.

  2. Linda, I am so very sorry for the painful loss of your precious friend, Heather. I know the pain of losing longtime friends. May you feel the wonderful peace that comes from our loving Father.

  3. Oh, dear friend! I am so sorry. I am lifting you right now to the Father. May He hold you extra close during this sad time. Sending much love to you tonight.🙏❤

  4. Oh Linda ... I'm so sorry. The wedding picture is beautiful and Heather sounds like a precious treasure. Praying for you, dear friend.

  5. May you find special comfort in your memories of your dear friend. xx Debby

  6. Dearest Linda, I am so very sad to hear of your loss. May God hold you close and give you comfort.

  7. 💔 😢 I cry with you…so sad to lose a special friend. May the Peace of God rest deeply in your soul. ❤️

  8. I am so sorry you lost a friend. Deep friendship is priceless. May God's ever presence be with you.

  9. You are in my heart and prayers. My condolences for your loss. Friendship is forever and always. Hold yourself gently and know you are loved.

  10. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your photos and tribute are beautiful.

  11. I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious friend Heather! May the Lord comfort you in your memories. Beautiful photos you shared, simple moments are the best! Cards from a friend, beautiful tulips, time on the beach... so so lovely!

  12. I love the photo of you and Heather. May your memories of your time together remain strong!

  13. Losing someone you love is never easy. Losing someone you have known and loved so long is even harder. May you know God's comfort as your mourn.

  14. It's never easy to lose someone close to our hearts. My deepest sympathies. What a beautiful tribute.

  15. All the days still seem alive,
    I can feel warmth on your skin;
how, now, friend, this fatal dive,
and please tell, how I begin
to live a world without your voice?
    Something's really so so wrong.
Why did God go make this choice?
Did He figure we'd be strong
and brave like gilded paper saints,
    or the hooh-haas on TV?
Let me tell you, that it ain'ts
the way it works for you and me.
    We may get cheap expulcation,
but need, at end Dynamic explanation.

    1. Aargh. Writing with pneumonia...the last two lines should read:

      We may get cheap exculpation,
      but need Your Divine explanation.

  16. Losing a friend is one of those griefs that is often overlooked; I mean, we don't get 3 days off from work when a friend dies, no? But friends are our chosen family. When a friend dies they take a part of us, our history, with them. But they also leave a part of them, and their history, with us. Heather now lives on in you... through the blogpost about books that others have found comfort in and through the virtues in her life that you so admired and loved and continue to live out in her honor. Peace to you and peace to Heather's memory. Carla

  17. I am so sorry for your loss.
I am praying for you, dearest Linda.

    Hugs and blessings.

  18. I too am so sorry you have lost this precious friend. Thank you for sharing the photo with us. Your happy smiles and tilted heads toward one another speak of the tender friendship you enjoyed for well over thirty years. May the sweet memories offer you comfort and even joy; may your powerful faith give you strength of spirit and peace.
