Honestly, I'm not quite ready to consider autumn's cute little pumpkins, fuzzy throws, and cozy fireside vignettes. This year, I intend to milk every last moment of summer for all it's worth.

I am really not quite ready,
ReplyDeleteno I am not, not at all,
to see the leaves become unsteady
as they face the coming fall.
Summer's always been my season,
long days, and star-splashed nights
that give me hope, and give me reason
to live the dream, and chase the light.
The summer storms that flash and rumble
like sailing galleons of the sky
both make me proud, and keep me humble,
and liberate my soul, to fly.
Though warmth and green must soon depart
it's always summer in my heart.

'Star-splashed nights that give me hope.'
DeleteLove that, Andrew.
Hang onto the golden days of summer as long as you can, Linda! Here is a link to my latest blog post: https://marthaorlando.blogspot.com/2019/08/i-win-gammie.html Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks for jumping in and sharing. Sister grandmas will appreciate your writing, friend!
DeleteSo many good links here, Linda. I will be returning when I have more time to savor them more slowly. But before I go, a hearty "amen" to the sarcasm post by Seth Godin. Two amens, actually. :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that passive agression gets old after awhile, doesn't it.
DeleteThank you so much for sharing my post! :)
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your place, Karen! For sure, our crowded, overloaded, unorganized spaces affect the health and freedom of our dearest relationships ...
DeleteDear Linda, I read your link about lament and tried to comment, but alas, something went awry and it didn't show up. Thank you for sharing your journey. As someone said it helps others when we share our grief process - for when they will need it. In light of that, I have decided to share how I found voice for my grief through writing. I know you will get it.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about Jessica. What a hard hard thing for everyone who loved her.

READERS ... be sure to check out Carol's post on writing through her grief.
DeleteSuperb, yes ...
Carol, thanks for sticking with me even when your comments seem to take wings and not land where they were intended.
* sigh *
Always enjoy your latest book recs, My Friend! Praying for your family this AM.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Your prayers opened doors to some lovely, healing conversations at church. Thank you for paving the way ...
DeletePlease know my gratitude for you sharing what I write. You are gracious and kind to include me in your porch gatherings. So many talented, insightful folk gather there.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you daily.
Blessings, Barbara
Yes, this community is chock full of the talented, the insightful, the wise, the creative, the humorous.
DeleteI'm so grateful for every soul who joins in on the conversations, who shares their hearts ... and the links to what they're penning.
You always share such great articles, Linda. I didn't get to all of them, but I did get to some of them. First I thought The Five Heart Hopes was my favorite until I read the first article - When Those Who Wander Aren't Lost. I loved the description of lament - "Lament is the deep cry in our souls that all is not right and that our deepest questions are borne out of the conviction that things ought not be as they are." There are so many who keep those deep cries and hard questions inside. As churches and individuals, we certainly need to be more open and nonjudgmental to the hard questions anyone has, right? Thank you for all these goodies. Love and blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteOh yes and amen to your heart cry right here, Trudy -->'churches and individuals, we certainly need to be more open and nonjudgmental to the hard questions anyone has.'
DeleteSadly, the Church fails at the compassion level more than we'd like to admit. It's easy to understand why our brothers and sisters going through a dark night of the soul end up heading for the door ...
Grace, grace.
So sad that summer is ending, but what a great list to kick off Fall with! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for tracking me down via LinkedIn. Nicki! I'm so glad we could connect this afternoon ...
Delete;-)
I always appreciate when you share links, Linda. I've opened three new tabs already from these links. :) Now I'm off to read....
ReplyDeleteI love knowing that you find something of value here, friend ...
DeleteLove a good list of links for reading! Isn't it amazing how many great things there are on the internet? Sometimes I get so caught up in all the bad things out there. But God brings so much good when we look for it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! We get to 'encourage one another daily.'
DeleteWhoever thought that biblical command could look like this?
;-)
Thanks for the good recommendations, Linda. Hope your Labor Day weekend was a good one. I'm not ready for fall either!
ReplyDeleteI love autumn but summertime is too fabulous to hustle through! Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one.
Delete;-)
This summer seemed to have passed so quickly, so I am glad the warmer days are lingering. Now to our myself another cup of coffee and enjoy your recommendations!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy ...
Delete;-)
Linda, thank you for all the recommendations. Reading is one of my simple pleasure...have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a simple pleasure, isn't it ... always available in some way. Sometimes exactly what we need.
DeleteLinda, what a great set of links! I enjoyed the ones I checked out! Thanks so much for taking the time to collect and share these! :) Have a great Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm glad, Jeanne! I always love knowing when something has hit home ...
DeleteGreat links! I saw Chip Gaines and the Human Kindness article flowting around the internet. Such a great idea. And I love the idea of heart hopes to go along with the five love languages. THank you for curating these links for us.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if ever we needed to get waves of kindness flowing it'd be right about now.
DeleteAmen!
