It's been a fun week around here with old and new friends coming and going, keeping company together, and sharing favorite 'desert island' reads all while putting yourselves in the running for the $25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card Giveaway.
The Winner ...
writer . photographer . ministry leader . therapist
Congrats, Pam!
The Book Club ...
The new Book Club begins right here on the blog the first weekend of February. Yay! We'll have six conversations on Invitation to Solitude and Silence: Experiencing God's Transforming Presence by Ruth Haley Barton. You can get your copy through the link above or grab your Kindle edition here.
Read why I chose this book as my all time favorite by going there.
Each gathering will open up on Thursdays or Fridays. I can't wait to sit around our virtual table, throw out a few conversation starters, and let you do your thing in the comment section. We'll be chatting about our obsession with wordiness. Being dangerously tired. Our odd resistance to silence. What rest for body, mind, soul could look like for where you find yourself in this season.
For Gathering #1, read right up through Chapter 2. We'll be discussing Beyond Words and Beginnings.
~ The book is only about 140 pages.
~ You don't have to sign up or read the book to participate.
A Bouquet of Absolutely Worth-Your-Time Links ...

hi
Congratulations, Pam!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a lovely - if cold - picture. Not thinking I'll be swimming today.
No swimming around these parts. Frigid, frigid.
DeleteHope you're basking in the desert temps, Andrew ...
So looking forward to participating in the book club, Linda! My copy should be arriving soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Super! I'm so glad you're on board, Martha. I'm excited about this!
DeleteCongratulations to Pam! I enjoyed reading several of the links.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm glad to hear that, Barbara! These were my most recent favorites ...
DeleteMay your weekend be restful.
Congrats to Pam!
ReplyDeleteAnd I also enjoy reading Sarah Bessey's writing!
Blessings to you!
Ah, yes, Sarah's my favorite blogger of all time. Her monthly newsletter is top notch.
DeleteAlways thought-provoking, isn't she ...
Looks like maybe we'll get a bit of sunshine this weekend. Hope you enjoy it, friend!
Congrats to the lucky winner!!! <3 - http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love cheering for each other?

Wow. Thanks, friend!
Wow, congrats to Pam!
ReplyDeleteMore fun in the coming days.
More fun.
DeleteYeah, I like that, Lux ...

Congratulations to Pam! How exciting for her to win such a generous giveaway! Your virtual book club sounds like a really great idea! I don't have the book, but I will definitely be dropping by to see what is happening in the discussions you will have. That is a lot of ice in that picture, brr! I hope the ice doesn't destroy the beautiful staircase! Hugs to you today dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteYep, please do drop by whenever you can, Marilyn. The welcome mat is always out and you can be as chatty as you want or sit silently and soak it all in.
DeleteWhatever works for you is splendid with me ...
;-}
What a great idea for an online book club. I'm checking out the book link too. Congrats to Pam as the winner!
ReplyDeleteI know you're a huge reader Sarah ... I hope you'll join us whenever you can!
DeleteCongratulations, Pam!
ReplyDeleteLinda, though I can't join your book group this time around, it sounds like it will be a fabulous study! I hope to be able to read this book sometime! Thank you for the bouquet of links. I'm checking out "What to Say Instead of 'I Know How You Feel'
to Someone Who's Struggling."
Have a beautiful week, my friend!
No need to join, just show up if and when you are able! It's going to be like an Open House, friend ...

I found my silence and solitude book with almost no trouble!!!
ReplyDelete:-O

That's because you are so very organized! I think you'll find it really helpful ...
DeleteCongrats to Pam! And I've got my copy and will try to enter into the discussion, Linda! What a gift you give to us all!
ReplyDeleteCome by whenever you can, friend. I know you'll bring a whole heap of wisdom along with you ...
DeleteI'm viewing this as more of an Open House rather than a Book Club at a specific time that everyone has to show up at. Will be getting the word out that no one's taking attendance, no one needs to read the book to be a part of the gathering.
Wish me luck!

I love your book club idea, but I wish we could meet in person. One day!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be cool?
DeleteMeanwhile, please drop in whenever you can. I'd love to have you on board, Sarah!
